Paul ALEXIS

la biographie

Paul Alexis was born on 9 May 1947 in Arras, France.

Paul Alexis is co-founder of ‘Art Capital’ and President of the Salon Comparaisons of Paris as well as Vice President of the Salon Historique du Grand Palais.

He has been the recipient of many awards for his work and dedication, including the Taylor Foundation Award and the Reader’s Digest Foundation Award.

He was also honoured by some of the most important French decorations, including Knight of the Legion of Honor and Knight of the Arts and Letters.

This artist creates secret and imaginary worlds. A man of great sensitivity, he paints, draws, writes and reads voraciously. He wanted to create and reverse trends.

A travel enthusiast, he likes to explore. His trips are full of emotions, encounters, and dialogues that influence his work, such as his trip to China where he discovered that his perception of colour had changed.

The painter says that his artistic process is influenced by the relationship ‘between the intimate and the memory, the memory and the trace, dreams, and icons.’
